Child drowned in Jhalakathi canal

A two-year-old girl died after falling into a canal at Nalchity upazila in Jhalakathi district on Tuesday.

The tragic incident occurred around 1:30 PM at Purba Paota village of Kulkathi union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Aduri, daughter of Jasim Hawladar and Koli Begum, a resident of the same area.

According to locals, Aduri fell into a canal near her home while playing. Upon realising, family members and locals rescued and rushed her to Nalchity Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

Confirming the matter, Nalchity Upazila Health Complex emergency unit on-duty doctor Elias Hossain said that the child died before being brought to hospital. We examined her and found no signs of life.
