KHULNA, May 12 - Students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Monday demanded the immediate resumption of academic activities and a proper investigation into the February 18 incident involving the assault on teachers.
The demand was raised during a human chain organised in front of the university's Student Welfare Centre.
Student representatives who spoke at the demonstration included Mushfiq (2019 batch, Mechanical Engineering), Sagar (IEM), Himel (MSE), Subhan (EEE), Rahatul Islam (2020 batch, Civil Engineering), and Atik (CEC).
They strongly urged the KUET administration to reopen all classes, examinations, and academic operations without further delay.
"For nearly three months, our academic life has been at a complete standstill," one student said. "We reject this prolonged stagnation. We want classes and exams to resume immediately so we can complete our studies and graduate on time."
The students also called for justice, demanding accountability for both the mistreatment of students and the assault on teachers.
"We respectfully urge our teachers to ensure justice is served for the harassment students have faced. At the same time, we demand that those responsible for attacking teachers be brought to justice," a speaker added.
They concluded by calling on the KUET administration to take strict action against all individuals involved in the February 18 incident, directly or indirectly.
