ULIPUR, KURIGRAM, May 12: The bodies of two brothers, who drowned while bathing in the Brahmaputra River in Ulipur Upazila of the district, were recovered on Monday.
The bodies were found at around 6 am in Paler Ghat area under Hatia Union under the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Ibrahim Ali, 12, and his brother Imran Hossain, 8.
According to local sources, at around 3 pm on Sunday, the two brothers went to bathe in the Brahmaputra River near their home at Char Jalanagar Kuthi Village under Buraburi Union in the upazila. At that time, they went missing in the water.
Despite extensive search efforts by a diving team from the Fire Service and local residents, the boys could not be located immediately. Eventually, on Monday morning, their bodies were spotted floating approximately three kilometres downstream from the incident site in Paler Ghat area.
Later on, locals recovered the bodies.
Officer-in-Charge of Ulipur Police Station Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident.
