Four ‘commit suicide’ in four districts

Four people including a schoolboy allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in four districts - Naogaon, Natore, Bagerhat and Kurigram.

PORSHA, NAOGAON: A madrasa student reportedly committed suicide in Porsha Upazila of the district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Alim Dalim, 19, son of late Mafiz Uddin, hailed from Raihogaon Village under Gomastapur Upazila in Chapainawabganj District. He was a residential student of Qitab Department at Chhaor Darul Hedaya Quomi Madrasa in Porsha.

It was known that Abdul Alim consumed poison at the madrasa hostel at around 7:30 pm.

Sensing the matter, his classmates and teachers rescued him and took to Porsha Upazila Health Complex, where he died at around 9:15 pm while undergoing treatment.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Monday.

However, the reason behind his committing suicide could not be known immediately.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station (PS) Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter.

BAGATIPARA, NATORE: A man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his sister's house in Bagatipara Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nawsher Ali, 58, son of late Aroz Ali Mandal, a resident of Boro Chithlia Village in the upazila.

It was known that Nawsher had been suffering from diabetes for long. Due to the disease, his legs and hands started rotting.

As the family members did not give much attention to him, his sister Pinjira Begum brought Nawsher to her house in Chithlia Village.

On Sunday morning, he wished to eat orange. To fulfill his wish, Pinjira Begum went to a local market for buying orange. After returning from the market, she saw her brother's body hanging from the ceiling of a room in the house.

Locals assumed that Nawsher might have committed suicide as he could not bear the pain of the disease anymore.
Being informed, police visited the scene.

Bagatipara Model PS Inspector (Investigation) Riazul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.

BAGERHAT: A schoolboy reportedly committed suicide in Sharankhola Upazila of the district on Sunday.

Deceased Rahman Hasan Taj, 15, was the son of Bayejid, a resident of Pashchim Dhansagar Village in the upazila. He was a tenth grader at Dr Masum Billah DN Technical School and College.

Police and the deceased's family sources said that Rahmat Hasan consumed pesticide in the house at noon while no one was aware of it.

Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and took him to neighbouring Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred the boy to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

Later on, he died on the way to Bagerhat.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

However, the reason behind his committing suicide could not be known immediately.

Sharankhola PS OC Md Shahidullah confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.

RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: A young man, who consumed poison out of huff with his wife in Rajarhat Upazila of the district, died on Saturday night.

Deceased Sumon Mia, 26, was the son of Bablu Mia, a resident of Pathak Village under Chakirpasha Union in the upazila.

Police and local sources said that Sumon Mia consumed pesticide on Friday night following a quarrel with his wife over family issues. Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and took him to Kurigram General Hospital.

Later on, he died at the hospital on Saturday night while undergoing treatment.

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family members after an autopsy.

Rajarhat PS OC Md Taslim Uddin confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
