Carpenter electrocuted at Bauphal Upazila

A carpenter was electrocuted while renovating the tin-roof of a house in Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali on Sunday.

The incident took place in Nimdi Village under the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sabuj, 47, son of Kader Chowkider, a resident of Betagi Sankipura Village in Dashmina Upazila of Patuakhali.

Police sources said that Sabuj was renovating the roof of the house of one Abul Hossain in the village. At one stage of work, he came in contact with a live electric wire, which left him critically injured.

Locals then rescued him and took to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctor Soeb Mahmud declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Bauphal Police Station Akteruzzaman Sarkar confirmed the incident.
