
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds in various parts of the country over the next five days, starting from 9am today (May 12).
According to a bulletin issued by the BMD, rain or thundershowers are likely in a few places across Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and in one or two areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions. Isolated incidents of hail are also possible.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies.
Day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged in Khulna division, while a 1–3°C drop is expected in other regions. Night temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly the same.
Meanwhile, a severe heat wave is sweeping over several districts including Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rajbari, Khulna, Chuadanga, Meherpur, and Jashore. A mild to moderate heat wave is affecting Dhaka, Chattogram, and Barishal divisions, as well as parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, and the districts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, and Sherpur. The heat wave may ease in some areas.
On Sunday, the country’s highest temperature was recorded at 41.8°C in Chuadanga (Khulna division), while the lowest temperature today was 19.0°C in Rangamati (Chattogram division).
In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 6:33pm today and sunrise at 5:17am tomorrow.
