Ex-IU VC Abdul Hakim Sarker dies

Former Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hakim Sarker has passed away at the home of his resident at Sector-14 in Dhaka due to his old age complication on Sunday.

He breathed his last at around 1:15 PM, sources at IU VC office said in the afternoon. He was 75.
Dr Hakim is survived by his wife, a son, and a host of relatives.

He would be buried at his family Graveyard after holding his namaz-e janaza at night.

IU authorities and different teacher and student organisations have expressed deep shock at the death of Abdul Hakim.

They also conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Professor Abdul Hakim Sarker had been serving the Social Welfare and Research Institute of Dhaka University before he was made the IU VC on December 27, 2012.
