IAU commits to build a moral society thru madrasa education: VC

Islamic Arabic University (IAU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Shamsul Alam has said that the university is working to build a moral society through time-befitting and skilled manpower.

Emphasizing Islamic education in establishing an ethical and discrimination-free society, he said that madrasa education plays an important role in building a discrimination free society among the all classes of people as it incorporates both modern, contemporary, and religious studies.
He made the remarks on Sunday (May 11) while speaking as the chief guest at a divisional exchange meeting titled "Improving the Quality of Madrasa Education," organized by the university at the auditorium of Rangpur Shilpakala Academy.

The meeting brought together principals and vice-principals of all madrasas affiliated with the university in the division.

 

 


IAU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Shahidul Islam and Treasurer ASM Mamunur Rahman Khalili were present here as special guests.

Presided over by the university's Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Zafar Khan, Kamil (Postgraduate) Education, Training, and Research Center Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Wali Ullah, Curriculum Development and Evaluation Center Dean Professor Dr Muhammad Shazaat Ullah Faruqi, Registrar M Ayub Hossain and Controller of Examinations Mohammad Ali spoke here as discussants.

The Vice-Chancellor further said that they want to produce qualified Islamic scholars and skilled manpower who can stand against injustice, irregularities, and help build a corruption-free society and state.

The principals and vice-principals who participated in the discussion demanded increased government funding for madrasas and more training opportunities for teachers. They noted that during previous governments, madrasa students faced discrimination in employment and in obtaining important state roles.

They urged that madrasa students be treated fairly in all areas, based on merit.

Principals and vice-principals from 178 madrasas in the division took part in the exchange meeting, said a press release, signed by IAU Pubilc Relation Office head Mohammad Ali.
