Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified security measures along a 76-kilometre stretch of the Rajshahi border amid the growing tensions between India and Pakistan.

BGB sources said that, to prevent border intrusions and ensure security, local residents have been instructed to complete agricultural work between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Fishing, passenger crossing on the Padma River, and the presence of outsiders in the river islands (chars) have been strictly prohibited after dusk.

In areas like Char Ashariadah under Godagari, mosques are broadcasting warnings via loudspeakers, urging residents to avoid traveling alone and discouraging group movements. Strict restrictions have also been placed on river activities and movements on chars after evening hours.

Mozammel Haque, member of ward no-5 in Char Ashariadah Union, stated, “BGB has announced via mosque loudspeakers that locals must go to the fields after 8:00 AM and return by 5:00 PM. Outsiders are not allowed to stay on the chars,” he said.
