Human Chain formed in National Press Club for Boga BridgeA human chain was formed in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, demanding the commencement of construction of the Ninth China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge over the Lohalia River on Saturday.

Hundreds of people from Baufal, Dumki, Dashmina, and Galachipa upazilas living in Dhaka assembled in front of the press club and formed the human chain around 10:00 AM.
Speakers at the event included BNP central leader Engineer AKM Faruk Ahmed Talukder, Secretary of Dhaka South City Jamaat-e-Islami and Chairman of the Baufal Development Forum Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, Central President of the Zia Research Council Anisur Rahman, Joint Convener of the Central Committee of the National Citizens Party and Convener of the Bridge Implementation Committee M Mujahidul Islam Shahin, and Engineer Rumon, among others.

The speakers urged the interim government to initiate the construction of the Ninth China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge over the Lohalia River.

It is worth noting that there is no ferry service on the Lohalia River for road travel from Dhaka to the southern upazilas of Dumki, Baufal, Dashmina, and Galachipa, except at the Boga point. The Boga ferry has become a major bottleneck for the local residents.

If the bridge is constructed, approximately 2 million people in Baufal, Dumki, Dashmina, and Galachipa upazilas would benefit, the speakers added.
