University of Dhaka unveiled ambitious initiatives this week aimed at elevating its global standing through enhanced research recognition, streamlined student services and infrastructure improvements.

Nearly 300 academics received honours at the inaugural "DU Research Excellence Recognition 2025" ceremony for publications in high-impact journals.

Vice-Chancellor, alongside Planning Ministry's Advisor, emphasised this recognition programme forms cornerstone of university's strategy to cultivate stronger research culture essential for international rankings advancement.

"Research excellence must become institutional DNA, not isolated achievement," remarked senior administration official at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building event.

Student experience improvements feature prominently in university's comprehensive plan. Dedicated communication channels established under Deputy Registrar Aminul Islam promise 48-hour resolution timeframe for documentation issues via email and WhatsApp support.

Dramatic reduction in transcript transmission fees from USD 50 to USD 10 signals administration's commitment to removing barriers for graduates pursuing international opportunities, critical factor in university reputation metrics.

Campus infrastructure development complements academic initiatives with Tk 28 lakh 35 thousand investment in concrete road renovation connecting Arts Building to Lecture Theatre and Madhur Canteen. Construction necessitates temporary closure until May 23.

Physical improvements extend beyond roadworks to include expanded transcript service facilities and upgraded Information Centre designed to enhance student satisfaction factor increasingly weighted in global university assessment methodologies.

Through this multifaceted approach integrating research recognition, service modernisation and facilities enhancement, DU administration demonstrates strategic determination to boost institutional standing beyond purely academic measures.
