Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over nine Bangladeshi nationals to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) through a flag meeting along Dinajpur's Biral border on Friday.
The returnees are Matiur Rahman, 45, M Rafiqul Islam, 38, M Samiul Islam, 35, Nurjamal, 40, Ramzan Ali, 23, Arman Ali, 25, Kajol Islam, 20, and Naeem Hossain, 23 and Ripon Islam, 27.
Confirming the matter, BGB’s Kishoreganj border outpost under Battalion-42 company commander Subedar Saiful Islam said that these Bangladeshis had reportedly entered India illegally through brokers searching for jobs.
Amid evolving situation triggered by the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, they were reportedly returning home taking help of human traffickers when members of BSF’s 63rd Battalion detained them in South Dinajpur on Thursday night, said the BGB official.
Later, they handed them over to Biral Police Station around 7:00 PM for legal action, he added.
Biral Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Sabur said that BGB lodged a case against them for trespassing.
The detainees, however, would be produced before a court on Saturday, added the police official.
