Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has protested the reportedly 'push-in' of 102 people into Bangladesh through the borders of Khagrachhari and Kurigram by Indian authorities.
In a post from his verified Facebook account on Thursday, Dr Shafiqur Rahman expressed grave concern over the incident, calling it an unjust and forceful act that has led to disorder and chaos under the guise of a 'push-in.'
"We stand united against the turmoil and anarchy being created under the name of unjustly pushing people into Bangladesh by force," he wrote. "The people of Bangladesh want to live with dignity. We will bow to none but Almighty Allah," the post contained.
He also urged the Bangladesh government to take a firm stance on the issue. "Our government must not show any weakness in this regard. Say a clear 'no' to aggression," he added in the post.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shafiq said that if justice is established in line with the spirit of the 2024 Uprising, oppressive forces will not be able to return repeatedly in the future.
He made the remarks on Thursday (May 8) after paying respects at the grave of the party's former Assistant Secretary General, Barrister Abdur Razzaq, in Azimpur.
Expressing hope, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that central Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam would receive justice and be released to lead the party once again.
"No other political party in the country has faced oppression the way Jamaat has," he said. "Our leaders have been executed by hanging, and some have been killed in custody."
