In a bid to strengthen its fight against dengue, Bangladesh has decided to adopt the Sri Lankan model for disease elimination.
The decision came following a recent meeting chaired by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, where officials and stakeholders discussed strategies to tackle the ongoing dengue outbreak. The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID) on Thursday.
As part of the new initiative, dengue test kits will be purchased using administrative funds, and healthcare professionals will receive specialized training in dengue diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
To boost public awareness, a dedicated coordination team will be formed. This team will include local representatives, religious leaders, NGOs, BNCC cadets, and youth volunteers, who will work together to run community-based awareness campaigns.
Furthermore, control rooms have been set up at various local government offices, and mobile courts are actively operating in the field to enhance enforcement and preventive measures.
