BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia thanked and expressed her gratitude to the Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus of the Interim Government and all government officials for facilitating her advanced medical treatment in London and return home.
Speaking at a press briefing in front of Firoza, the Gulshan residence of BNP Chairperson, her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said, "Khaleda Zia has returned from London in good health, both physically and mentally following her medical treatment."
Dr Zahid, who is also Khaleda Zia's personal physician and accompanied her on the same air ambulance, said the time is approaching when the right atmosphere will allow BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to return home.
"Thanks God, her condition is now quite stable. Although she is a bit physically tired from the 14-hour flight and the subsequent road journey, her mental state remains strong," he said.
He also conveyed Khaleda Zia's heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Defence Forces Division, and the Bangladesh Air Force for facilitating her advanced medical treatment in London.
Additionally, he expressed thanks to the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), other law enforcement agencies, and media personnel for their roles in ensuring her safe return from the airport to her residence.
He further acknowledged the support of expatriate BNP leaders and activists, particularly UK BNP's MA Malek and Koychar M Ahmed, as well as BNP members from around the world who contributed to her care and offered prayers for her recovery.
"We are deeply grateful to Allah for allowing our leader to return home in significantly improved health," he said.
Dr Zahid said, "Zubaida Rahman arrived today, the day is not far off when our Acting Chairman will lead the movement for the restoration of democracy from here, rather than from Britain."
"In a few days, perhaps the proper environment will be created for Tarique Rahman to return and he will surely come back," he said.
On behalf of the BNP, Dr Zahid expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar and the Qatari government for providing the royal special air ambulance, which carried Khaleda to and from London.
He said the air ambulance, equipped with all royal medical facilities, was provided free of charge.
