Gazipur police have arrested at least 70 individuals in connection with the attack on the car of National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah.
Jahid Hasan, additional police commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, confirmed the detention number on Monday morning.
It was learnt that most of the detained persons are belonging to Awami League and its affiliated organizations.
Police and DB members jointly made drives at different places of Gazipur city on Sunday night to early Monday and detained the 79 in connection with the attack.
Meanwhile, Md Nizam Uddin, a Jubo League leader from ward no. 13 of Gazipur City Corporation; and Masum Ahmed Dipu, President of the Sheikh Russell Shishu Kishore Parishad, Kashimpur thana unit, were arrested around 9:30PM on Sunday.
Hasnat Abdullah’s car was attacked in Gazipur's Chandona Chourasta on Sunday evening.
According to the driver, some miscreants, riding on motorcycles, attacked the car. They broke the window glass of the car.
Getting information, police went to the scene and started drives in that area.
