Two hacked dead in Rajbari, Tangail

Two men were murdered in separate incidents in two districts - Rajbari and Tangail.

RAJBARI: A man was hacked to death over money transaction in Pangsha Upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Rashidul Islam, 35, a resident of Niva Village in the upazila.

Quoting locals, Additional Superintend of Police (ASP) Abu Russell said that Rashidul had a dispute with one Islam over interest of loan money for long. At around 9 am on Saturday, the rivals attacked on Rashidul while he was going to Rupiat Village, and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Being informed, police recovered the body.

The law enforcers, however, arrested one person in connection with the incident, the ASP added.

DHANBARI, TANGAIL: A local leader of Awami League (AL) was hacked to death over land dispute in Dhanbari Upazila of the district on Friday.

The incident took place in Bhaighat Bus Stand Bazar Mosque area of the upazila in the evening.

The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, son of late Abdul Mannan, a resident of Sandalpur Village. He was the general secretary of Dhopakhali Union's Ward No. 8 unit of AL. 

The deceased's family sources said that Mizanur had a longstanding dispute with BNP activist Alamin over land. Following this, Alamin along with Sadiqul, Jahur Ali and others hacked Mizanur near Bhaighat Bus Stand Bazar Mosque after Magrib prayers, leaving him seriously injured.

Critically injured Mizanur was then rescued by locals and taken to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor shifted him to Tangail General Hospital for better treatment.

Later on, Mizanur succumbed to his injuries at Tangail General Hospital while undergoing treatment. 
 
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge of Dhanbari Police Station SM Shahidullah confirmed the incident, adding that filing of a murder is underway in this regard.
