The Election Commission (EC) has blocked the National Identity Card (NID) of Sultanuzzaman Md. Saleh Uddin, former Director General of the National Identity Registration Division, following instructions from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to an official ACC letter, Deputy Director Md. Saiduzzaman requested a travel ban and the blocking of NIDs for two individuals, including Sultanuzzaman Md. Saleh Uddin, former Managing Director of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF). The request was approved after a hearing in the interest of a fair investigation.

In response to the directive, the EC's IT department blocked the NIDs of Saleh Uddin and his wife upon official approval.
Before his tenure at BMTF, Saleh Uddin served as the Director General of the NID Division, during which a contract was signed with the French tech company Oberthur for the supply of smartcards.
