The voice in a recently circulated audio clip on social media-allegedly claiming to have a "license to kill 227 people"-has been confirmed as that of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through forensic analysis, according to the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
Chief Prosecutor of the Tribunal, Tajul Islam, stated in a press briefing that in the controversial clip, Sheikh Hasina allegedly said, "There are 227 cases against me, so I have a license to kill 227 people."
Based on forensic findings regarding the audio, the prosecution filed a contempt of court petition against Sheikh Hasina at the ICT on Wednesday.
Later, the tribunal ordered Sheikh Hasina and Gobindaganj upazila's former chairman, Shakil Akanda Bulbul, to submit explanations by May 15 regarding the leaked phone conversation that surfaced on social media.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, issued the order after Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam informed the court that the leaked conversation, which emerged at the end of last year, allegedly obstructs the trial process.
