Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) firmly ruled out participating in discussions about forming any electoral alliance ahead of the upcoming election.
NCP Convenor Nahid Islam announced this position following a meeting with Ganosamhati Andolon at party's central office on Wednesday.
"We haven't had any discussions yet regarding the formation of an electoral alliance," Nahid said. "However, we are in talks with various political parties to reach a consensus on political unity and our agendas related to reforms and justice."
Nahid emphasised that the party, which emerged from a mass uprising, must follow the democratic path chosen by the people. "We currently have no plans for a political alliance. Since we emerged as a political party through a mass uprising, we must also walk the path of the new democracy that the people choose."
NCP convenor highlighted that fundamental reforms and justice remain their primary demands. "For now, we have no roadmap regarding the election," Nahid added.
"Moreover, if the constitution is to be amended, it should not be done in a purely parliamentary manner. Any change or amendment to the constitution must be made with the people's mandate," he added.
