12 bodies recovered in ten districts

A total of 12 people were found dead in separate incidents in 10 districts - Rajbari, Chattogram, Faridpur, Narail, Dhaka, Cumilla, Pabna, Sherpur, Jashore and Bagerhat.

RAJBARI: Police recovered the body of a man from Public Health intersection in the district town on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Sarder, 40, son of late Alam Sarder, a resident of Dakshin Bhabanipur area in Sadar Upazila.

It was known that locals spotted the body of Rubel lying on the veranda of a shop, named Jaman Store, at Public Health intersection in the town at around 7:30 am and informed the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police said Rubel was an accused in a robbery case filed in 2024.

CHATTOGRAM: Two people were found dead in separate incidents in the district.

The body of a child cricketer was found floating in the Karnaphuli River on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Rahat Khan, 12, a seventh grader at Sanowara Boys High School in Chandgaon. He was a member of Chattogram Brothers Union Junior Cricket Team.

It was known that Rahat had been missing since Tuesday night. Later on, locals found his body floating in the Karnaphuli River on Wednesday morning.

On information, Fire Service members recovered the body and handed it over to police, said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Chandgaon Police Station (PS) Abdul Quddus.

Police are investigating the matter, the SI added.

Earlier, police recovered another body from a pond in the city on Tuesday.
The body was recovered body from Damuya Pond in Pathantuli area at around 2:30 am.

The identity of the deceased, aged approximately between 45 and 50, could not be known immediately.
It was known that locals spotted the body floating in the pond and informed the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Double Mooring PS Kazi Rafiqul Islam said that the man is suspected to have had physical disabilities. "We were informed when the body was seen floating in the pond. Our team rushed to the spot and recovered the body," he said.

However, the law enforcers are trying to identify the deceased, the OC added.

FARIDPUR: Police recovered the body of a madrasa teacher, who went missing two days back, from a maize field in Madhukhali of the district on Tuesday noon.

Deceased Sheikh Al Azad, 60, father of Madhukhali Upazila Krishak Dal Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Shimul, was an assistant teacher of Charbamundi Yasin Dakhil Madrasa and a resident of the area.

It was known that Sheikh Al Azad had been missing since the noon of April 27. The family members lodged a general diary with Madhukhali PS on the same night.

Following this, police arrested one Md Russell Sheikh, 40, son of Md Sohrab Sheikh, for questioning. At one stage, Russell confessed of killing the madrasa teacher.

Later on, police recovered the body of Sheikh Al Azad from a maize field in Kathurakandi area under Jahapur Union at around 1:30 pm following the information given by Russell. The body was then sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Madhukhali PS OC SM Nuruzzaman confirmed the incident.

NARAIL: Police have recovered the body of a young man from behind a rival's house at Kalia Upazila in Narail district.

The body was found around 9:30 am on Tuesday behind the house of Rikail Sheikh at Kanchanpur Village under Kalia Upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Molya, 38, son of Azizul Molya, was a resident of that village.

Kalia PS OC Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the incident.

According to police and locals, local people spotted Rafiqul's body with his legs tied behind Rikail Sheikh's house in the morning and immediately informed the the police. A team from Kalia police arrived at the scene and took the body into custody.

It is reported that on April 11, a clash broke out at Kanchanpur Village between two rival groups-led by Milon Molya and Aftab Molya-stemming from a long-standing conflict over local dominance. During the clash, Farid Molya, 57, a member of local Aftab group, was killed.

A murder case was filed with Kalia PS, and Rafiqul, a member of Milon group, had been absconding as one of the accused in that case.

Speaking to reporters, OC Abdullah Al Mamun said, "We came to the spot upon receiving the report. The body is being prepared to be sent to Narail Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the incident."

SAVAR, DHAKA: Police recovered the body of a man from a canal beneath the Baipail Bridge in Ashulia of Savar Upazila on Tuesday.

The body was discovered at around 8:30 am in a canal under the twin bridges at Baipail of Ashulia.

The deceased was identified as Majid, 48, son of Monser, hailed from Kazipur Village under Kazipur Upazila in Sirajganj.

According to police sources, after speaking with locals, it was learned that Majid had been wandering around the area for several months in a mentally unstable condition. The initial assumption is that he fell from the bridge, leading to his death.

Ashulia PS SI Jahangir Alam said that locals informed them about the body by calling the national emergency service number 999.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent in to a nearby hospital morgue for an autopsy, the SI added.

CUMILLA: The bodies of two missing children were recovered from a pond in Laksham Municipality in the district on Tuesday.
Locals recovered the bodies floating in the pond at around 5:45 am at Gunoti Village under the municipality.

The deceased were identified as Jihad Hossain, 7, son of Rubel Hossain, and Sabbir Hossain Mohin, 10, son of Mohammad Ali. Both children were students at Gunoti Government Primary School- Jihad in class two and Mohin in class four.

According to locals and family members, the boys went missing on Monday afternoon. Initially, their families assumed they had gone out to play.

However, when they did to return by evening, the families began searching extensively, checking with relatives and across nearby areas but were unable to find any trace.

Early Tuesday morning, a local resident noticed a body floating in a nearby pond. Later on, both children's bodies were recovered from there.

Laksham PS Assistant SI Chumki Barua confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.

PABNA: Police recovered the body of a businessman from Ishwardi Upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Badsha Hossain, 55, son of Delwar Hossain of the upazila. He was the owner of 'Mithun Store' at Ishwardi EPZ.

It was known that locals spotted his severe body lying on a railway line in Umirpur area of the upazila at around 10:30 pm and informed the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Pabna Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The deceased's family members said that someone called Badsha over mobile phone a few days back and demanded a large sum of money. As he did not agree to give the money, the extortionists might have killed him and left his body on the railway line.

Ishwardi Railway PS OC Ziaur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and the actual reason behind his death would be known after getting the autopsy report.

SHERPUR: Police recovered the floating body of a painter from the Bhogai River at Nalitabari Upazila in the district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 26, son of Chhamidul Islam, a resident of Shimultala Mahakhali area of Baghber Union in the upazila.

According to locals, Jahangir left home on Saturday evening, stating he was going to a shop and he did not return home at night.

Being tensed, his family tried to contact him on his mobile phone but it was switched off.

Later, his family started searching for him here and there but failed to trace.

At one point, on Monday afternoon, locals spotted a body floating in the Bhogai River east of Shimultala Government Primary School and informed the police.

After recovering the body from the river, his family identified it as Jahangir's.

Confirming the matter, Nalitabari PS OC Sohel Rana said that one person named Alamgir Hossain has been detained for interrogation in connection with the incident.

The body was sent to Sherpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.

JASHORE: Missing teenager's body found in Bhatpara area of Ramnagar Union in Jashore Sadar Upazila on Monday.
Police recovered his body around 2 pm from a pond near his house.

The deceased was identified asTanvir Hasan Nishan, 14, a 9th-grade student at Bhatpara Alia Madrasa.

According to locals, Nishan left home around 7 pm on Sunday, saying he was going to a nearby shop but did not return home afterwards.

Later that night, his family started searching for him here and there but could not found him. His mobile phone was also switched off at that time.

His family claimed that an unidentified person called them using Nishan's mobile number around 10:30 pm that night, demanding a ransom of Tk 5 thousand.

Following this incident, a general diary was lodged with Kotwali Model PS.

On Monday afternoon, while working near a pond close to their house, a local person felt something under their feet.

Upon further search, Nishan's body was recovered under a pile in the pond.

It was also noticed his hands and feet were tied with his lungi and his body was weighed down with stones.

Upon receiving the information, police from Kotwali Model PS arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Confirming the matter, OC Abul Hasnat said that the matter has been taken seriously and they are investigating the case.

BAGERHAT: Police recovered the floating body of an easy-bike driver from a fish enclosure in Morrelganj Upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Sheikh, 20, son of Russell Sheikh, a resident of Uttar Mal Gazi Village under Mongla Upazila in the district.

It was known that locals spotted his body floating in a fish enclosure owned by one Kabir and Mamun Molla near Tetulbaria Bazar in Tafalbari area under Baruikhali Union of Morrelganj in the morning and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene at around 9 am and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The deceased's uncle Saidul Khan said that Hasan went out of the house along with his easy-bike on Friday afternoon and had been missing since then.

Police assumed that Hasan might have been murdered in a planned way.

Morrelganj PS OC Md Rakib Al Hasan confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to detain those involved in the killing.
