The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday officially announced that Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan in May to play a five-match T20 International series.
The series is scheduled to take place between May 25 and June 3 and will be hosted across two venues in Faisalabad and Lahore.
This bilateral series was initially planned to feature three ODIs and as many T20i matches as part of the ICC's Future Tours Programme (FTP) but both boards mutually agreed to convert the ODIs into two additional T20i matches in light of the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup scheduled for next year.
The series will begin at the historic Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which is set to host international cricket after a 17-year absence.
The first and second T20i matches will be held at this venue on May 25 and 27 respectively. Iqbal Stadium, which previously hosted 24 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1978 and 2008, last staged an international fixture in April 2008 when Pakistan played an ODI against Bangladesh.
In recent times, the venue has seen domestic activity including the ICC Champions Trophy matches in September last year and the National T20 Cup held last month. The return of international cricket marks a significant moment for Faisalabad cricket fans.
Following the opening two matches, the series will move to Lahore, where the Gaddafi Stadium will host the remaining three matches.
The third, fourth and fifth clashes are scheduled for May 30, June 1 and 3 respectively. All matches are set to start at 9:00pm (BST).
Bangladesh are expected to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will hold training sessions at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24 to acclimatize to local conditions.
This tour will be an important opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their squads and strategies ahead of the T20 World Cup and is expected to feature competitive cricket as both sides seek to test depth and combinations in the shortest format.
