Police recovered the floating body of an unidentified woman from Mirakhali river of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj on Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased, aged about 34, cound not be known immediately, said police.
Confirming the matter, Boiddarbazar River Police camp in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said that locals spotted the woman floating on the water of the river and informed police.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Narayangaj General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
He further said that the woman's body was tied to a bamboo fishing pole in the river. She might have been killed by miscreants and tied her body here, the OC suspected.
The legal process was underway in this connection, the OC added.
