Prime accused held in Rajbari murder case

Police arrested prime accused in a murder case involving recovery of a headless body from the Padma River in Chhoto Vakla area at Goalanda Upazila in Rajbari district.

Goalanda Ghat Police Station officer-in-charge confirmed the matter through a press release on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused was identified as Sumana Parveen Setu, 24, daughter of the late Saifur Rahman from Char Kachrand village in the upazila.

Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, police recovered the headless body from a canal connected to the Padma River at Char Barat of Chhoto Vakla union Parishad in Goalanda Upazila.

Three individuals were named as accused in the murder case filed in connection with the incident. Setu was listed as the number one accused. Prior to this, another accused named Sohag was arrested yesterday.

According to police report, the accused woman had an extramarital affair with Jihad, the deceased who used to live in Dhaka.

At one point, the woman made relationships with Hridoy and Sohag.

When Jihad returned home from Dhaka on Thursday afternoon, he went to meet Setu late that night.
Later, Setu along with Hridoy and Sohag allegedly took him to the riverbank and murdered.

The OC also said that a special operation conducted by Goalanda Ghat Thana Police and Daulatdia River Police which led to arrest her from her father's house in Chhoto Vakla.
