The Chamber Judge Court of Appellate Division has stayed the bail granted by High Court to former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case.

This order was issued on Wednesday around 5:30 PM by Justice Md. Rezaul Haque of Appellate Division’s Chamber Court.
The stay will remain in effect until the certified copy of High Court’s verdict is published and a regular leave-to-appeal petition is filed.

Earlier, around 2:00 PM, High Court had granted bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

The matter was confirmed by Additional Attorney General Muhammad Abdul Zabbar Bhuiyan, who said, “This is a sensitive case. A trainee lawyer has been murdered. The state sought a stay on High Court’s bail order and Chamber Court has granted our request.”

Representing the state in Chamber Court hearing were Additional Attorney General Muhammad Abdul Zabbar Bhuiyan and Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik R Haque. On the other hand, Chinmoy Krishna Das was represented by lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya.

Earlier at 2:00 PM, bail had been granted by a High Court bench comprising Justice Md. Atoar Rahman and Justice Md. Ali Reza.
