Police have arrested an accused in a murder case, who escaped from police custody while taking him to a prison van in Chattogram court premises.
He was arrested from a rented house of Firoza Begum, a colony of Tulatali Railway Line under Ward No. 8 of Khulshi Police Station in the city on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Iqbal Hossain Emon, son of Yunus of Uttar Kolaujan in Lohagara upazila in Chattogram district.
Meanwhile, another accused in the drug case, Anwar Hossain, could not be arrested yet. A manhunt is underway to arrest him.
Chattogram Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operation) Md Sirajul Islam said that acting on a tip-off, police arrested Iqbal Hossain alias Emon, a fugitive accused in a murder case, on Tuesday night.
Legal action against the accused is underway, added the police official.
Earlier on Tuesday (April 29), he fled from Chattogram court premises while being taken to a prison van.
