Private sector operator Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN), Bahon Limited, has announced a reduction in the cost of internet transmission services.
The company stated that the decision to lower prices was made in response to the call from Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, domestic transmission service costs have been reduced by at least 10 per cent, with some areas seeing reductions exceeding this amount, depending on the extent of the transmission network.
Bahon Limited's Chief Operating Officer, Rashed Amin Biddut, highlighted the government's commitment to providing quality internet services at affordable prices, noting that this price reduction would significantly lower consumer-level internet costs.
In addition to the price reduction, Bahon Limited has called for the removal of the 'floor price' on NTTN services.
Addressing the issue, Rashed Amin Biddut argued that eliminating the floor price would make internet services more affordable for users. The company has previously written to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) requesting its removal.
Bahon Limited believes that removing the floor price could further reduce NTTN transmission costs by over 10 per cent in numerous areas, he added.
