For Bangladesh's women, this tournament is not merely a collection of matches; it is a significant stride towards asserting their place on the international stage. Yet the road ahead is demanding.
Although the tournament's dates had been etched in the calendar a few days earlier, the mystery of Bangladesh's inaugural opponents lingered until now. Now It is confirmed that the red and greens will commence their campaign against the host nation, Jordan, on 31 May. After a brief respite of two days, they will next face Indonesia on 3 June.
From 28 June to 5 July, the team will vie for a place in the AFC Women's Asian Cup, battling in Group C amidst the vibrant landscapes of Myanmar. There, they will measure their mettle against Bahrain and Turkmenistan, alongside the formidable hosts.
The stakes are starkly clear: only the group champions will earn their passage to the Asian Cup finals.
Myanmar, with its superior FIFA ranking, casts a long shadow over Bangladesh's aspirations. Nonetheless, in adversity lies the promise of greatness. It was with an eye towards such challenges that the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) meticulously orchestrated the Jordanian series. By facing Jordan, ranked 74th in the world, and Indonesia, ranked 94th, Bangladesh, currently positioned at 133rd, will test its skills against stronger adversaries. These matches are to be their proving ground, where both players and coaches will discover the true depth of their resolve and readiness.
