Dhaka Detective Branch (DB) police detained three Awami League leaders of Jashore, including former vice chairman of Jhikargachha Upazila Parishad, Imran Rashid, from Panthapath area in the capital on Saturday night (April 26).
The information was confirmed by Senior Inspector Ataur Rahman of Dhaka DB Police.
Imran Rashid, 46, is a resident of Kauria village in Jhikargachha upazila, Jashore.
The other two detainees are Amirul Islam Raja, 47, vice president of the municipal Jubo League and ward commissioner of Ward No. 7 of Jhikargacha Municipality, and Jafirul Haque alias Haque Saheb, 45, an upazila Jubo League leader from Krishnanagar village.
According to DB Inspector Ataur Rahman, the three were found roaming suspiciously in Panthapath area. They were detained on the spot.
Later, they were formally shown arrested in connection with previous cases and were produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.
