College student dies in Sunamganj lightning strike

A college student tragically died after being struck by lightning on Monday (April 28) in Sunamganj's Shalla upazila.

The incident happened in the morning at Buriganghal Haor of Atgaon village in the upazila .
Rimon Talukder was a second-year degree student at Shalla College.

According to locals and police, Rimon had gone to the haor area in the morning, as usual, to graze cattle. While there, sudden rainfall began, and before he could reach a safe place, he was struck by lightning. The incident claimed both his life and that of one of the cows he had taken with him.

Officer-in-Charge of Shalla Police Station, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, confirmed it, stating, “A college student and a cow died after being hit by lightning. The body has been handed over to the family after completing legal procedures.”
