Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Dhaka University (DU) unit has submitted a petition outlining a five-point demand aimed at improving student welfare. Their demands include better food quality in hall canteens, road repairs in hall areas, the installation of water filters, free Wi-Fi access, and enhanced library facilities across the campus.

JCD leaders on Sunday formally petitioned Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, highlighting five critical areas that require immediate attention in campus facilities. DU JCD President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon signed the petition, representing their concerns.
"During extreme heat, students must commute under various health risks without proper arrangements for safe drinking water," explained the petition submitted to the university administration. DU JCD emphasised that existing conditions pose significant challenges as temperatures soar in the capital.

The poor quality of food served in residential hall canteens tops the list of concerns, with the organisation reporting "various illnesses among students during this scorching period" linked to substandard meals provided at university accommodations.

Deteriorating road conditions, particularly behind the Faculty of Arts building and within hall areas, were identified as "nearly unfit for use" and frequently used by the student population. With the monsoon season approaching, the organisation warned that these broken thoroughfares "will be submerged, rendering them impassable and causing severe suffering."
