Public Service Commission (PSC) has decided to postpone the written examination for the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) recruitment.
The announcement was made on Sunday night around 9:30 PM by interim government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan at Raju Sculpture in Dhaka, where students have been staging demonstrations.
According to Asif Mahmud, the decision to postpone the exam was reached after discussions between government representatives and PSC members.
However, the protesting students have declared that halting the examination is not enough. They vowed to continue their movement until all of their eight-point demands are fully met. As part of their ongoing protest, the students have called for a mass gathering at the sculpture on Monday.
Earlier in the evening, the job seekers marched from the sculpture and blocked Shahbagh intersection, leading to a complete halt of traffic for more than an hour.
Afterward, they returned to their base at Raju Sculpture to continue their demonstration.
Later in the night, advisor Asif Mahmud and other senior officials met with the protesters at the site. Following discussions, they convinced the students to break their hunger strike.
