Three people electrocuted in Rajshahi, Pabna, Netrakona districts

Three men were electrocuted in separate incidents in three districts - Rajshahi, Pabna and Netrakona.

RAJSHAHI: A young man was electrocuted in Rajshahi University area of the city on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rimon Ghosh Tufan, 24, son of Rajen Kumar of Sepaipara area in the city.

It was known that Tufan came in contact with live electricity while providing internet connection to a house in the area, which left him critically injured.

Locals then rescued him and took to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family members following legal procedures.

Matihar Police Station (PS) Inspector (Investigation) Sumon Kaderi confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.

CHATMOHAR, PABNA: A construction worker was electrocuted in Chatmohar Upazila of the district on Friday.

The incident took place at Natun Bazar Moholla under Chatmohar Municipality in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Majumdar, 34, son of Parimal Majumder, hailed from Chattogram District.

It was known that after changing his religion, Sumon married a Muslim woman, and started living in a rented house in Mahela Village under Parshwadanga Union in the upazila along with his new family. He was the father of a son and a daughter. On Friday afternoon, he was working in the house of Freedom Fighter Mazharul Islam Kalu at Natun Bazar Moholla in Chatmohar Municipality as a construction worker. At one stage, he came in contact with live electricity there, which left him critically injured.

Injured Sumon was then rescued and taken to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatmohar PS Manzurul Alam confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury visited the house of the deceased.

The UNO said that necessary assistance will be provided to the deceased's family.

NETRAKONA: A man was electrocuted in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrakona early Thursday.

The incident took place in Baroruhi Village under Bishkakuni Union of the upazila at around 12:45 am.

The deceased was identified as Bazlul Haque Hira, 51, son of late Ali Haider, a resident of the same village.

According to local sources, Hira came in contact with a live electric wire while he was attempting to connect an IPS line in the house at midnight, which left him critically injured.

Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

Purbadhala PS OC Md Nurul Alam confirmed the incident.
