A Dhaka court has issued an Interpol arrest warrant against Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with a corruption case involving the alleged illegal allocation of a 10-katha plot in Purbachal New Town.
The order was passed by Judge Md Zakir Hossain of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
As Putul is currently residing abroad, the investigating officer appealed to the court to issue an arrest warrant through Interpol. The court granted the request after reviewing the application.
Previously, on April 10, the same court had issued arrest warrants for 18 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina and Saima Wazed Putul, in connection with the same case.
The case was filed on January 12, 2025, by ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya. It accuses 18 people, including the former premier and her daughter, of involvement in fraudulent activities regarding the allocation of plots in Purbachal.
