Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zubair, from Department of Food Technology and Nutritional Science (FTNS), has been appointed as new Dean of Faculty of Life Sciences at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU).
He will serve a two-year term, overseeing academic activities within the faculty.
On Sunday in accordance with university regulations, former Dean Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar Faruque officially handed over responsibilities to Dr. Zubair during a floral reception ceremony, attended by chairpersons of various departments under the faculty.
Following his appointment, newly appointed Dean emphasized the importance of the role in ensuring integrated and progressive development of academic activities within the faculty.
He stated that his primary focus would be to create a modern, student-friendly educational environment.
Dr. Zubair expressed plans to collaborate with the executive committee to secure increased funding opportunities for research, enhance and modernize laboratory facilities, recruit skilled lab technicians and research associates and foster a dynamic academic atmosphere.
Additionally, newly appointed Dean highlighted his intention to launch an independent journal for Faculty of Life Sciences and organize creative and developmental seminars and conferences, aiming to nurture a research-driven academic culture.
He also stressed that constructive inquiry was essential for building a knowledge-based society.
