A Chuadanga court on Sunday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a rape case at Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district in 2023.
The court also fined Tk 50,000 to the convict.
The convict is Nazmul, son of Selim Mandal of Hasadah union of the upazila.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Syed Habibul Islam pronounced the verdict on Sunday afternoon.
According to prosecution, class three student was violated by the convict in Jibannagar upazila of the district on May 16, 2023.
The child's mother filed a case with Jibannagar Police Station on May 17.
Sub-inspector Shah Ali Mia, investigating officer of the case, submitted a report to the court after the investigation.
Later, the judge after examining evidence found the convict guilty and handed down the punishment.
