A Chattogram court sentenced a man to life imprisonment in drug case filed with Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram.
Chittagong Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Begum Sirajam Munira handed down the verdict on Sunday.
The convicts are Md Rafiqul Islam, 53, son of late Siraj Uddin Bepari of Kafrul Police Station in the capital.
The court also fined Rafiqul Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
According to the case statement, on March 6, 2019, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested Rafiqul Islam along with 85,000 pieces of Yaba pills from in front of Momtaz Hotel at Firingi Bazar area under Kotwali Police Station.
Later, DB Port Zone sub-inspector Farhad Mahim filed the case with Kotwali Police Station on March 7, 2019.
