DU JCD submits 5-point demands for students' welfare

Dhaka University's Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has submitted an application to the Vice-Chancellor, outlining a five-point demand aimed at improving student welfare.

Their demands include: better food quality in hall canteens, road repairs in hall areas, installation of water filters, free Wi-Fi access and enhanced library facilities across the campus.
Some JCD leaders on Sunday went to the office of Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan and submitted the application, signed by JCD president and general secretary, requesting him to provide facilities across campus.

"During extreme heat, students must commute under various health risks without proper arrangements for safe drinking water," explained petition submitted to university administration.
JCD emphasised that existing conditions pose significant challenges as temperatures soar in capital city.

Poor quality food served in residential hall canteens tops list of concerns, with organisation reporting "various illnesses among students during this scorching period" linked to substandard meals provided at university accommodation.

Deteriorating road conditions, particularly behind Faculty of Arts building and within hall areas, were identified as "nearly unfit for use" and frequently travelled by student population. With monsoon season approaching, the organization warned these broken thoroughfares "will be submerged, rendering them impassable and causing severe suffering."

The petition also highlighted complete absence of dedicated internet service for university ID cardholders, including students, teachers, officers and staff, alongside widespread lack of printing, photocopying and scanning facilities in departmental seminar libraries.

Their five-point proposal highlights installing water filters across departments to ensure safe drinking water and reduce health risks during extreme weather.

They requested VC's "esteemed leadership" in addressing these "urgent" matters affecting daily campus life before monsoon season compounds existing problems.
