At least six people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG run auto-rickshaw and a pickup van in Rangamati's Kawkhali Upazila.
The incident took place in the rubber plantation area of Betbunia Union under Kawkhali Upazila on the Rangamati-Chittagong road around 10am on Saturday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as - Abu Torap, 45, from Chowdhury Para of Chittagong's Rauzan, Nur Nahar Begum, 40, from West Monairtek in Rangamati's Kawkhali, Mahmudur Rahman Bacchu, 55, from Chittagong's Hathazari upazila, Joynal Abedin, 63, from Chittagong's Rauzan, Ijadul, 25, son of the deceased Gulzar in Bhatiyari area of Chittagong's Sitakunda, and Minu Marma, 35, daughter of Dabua Mongshi Marma of Betbunia under Kawkhali Upazila.
Kawkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saifur Rahman Sohag said that three people died on the spot and three more died after being taken to the hospital. Primarily is known that all of them were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
