PIB holds felicitation and orientation program for journalism diploma students

The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) organized a felicitation ceremony for outstanding students and an orientation program for the 2024–25 academic year of its Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism program. The event was held on Friday, April 25, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM in the seminar room of PIB's Building No. 1.

The program’s chief guest was Parvin Sultana Rabbi, Director of the Study and Training Division at PIB. The event was presided over by Associate Professor Monira Sharmin, with the session moderated by reporter Sifat Tasnim.

The newly enrolled 25th batch of students was welcomed with flowers, while meritorious students from the 2022–23 and 2021–22 academic years were honored with crests and books in recognition of their achievements.

In the 2022–23 academic year, Sadi Islam secured first place, Arif Khan, a reporter for *The Daily Observer*, placed second, while third-place winner Ukya Mong was absent from the event.

Among the top performers from the 2021–22 academic year were Abdur Rahim Manik (1st), Mahamudul Hasan (2nd), and Amit Kishore Raut (3rd).
The event commenced with a welcome speech from PIB Lecturer and Program Coordinator Shubho Karmakar. Also present were Assistant Professor Pankaj Karmakar and Lecturer Lajina Akter Jaslin.

In her concluding remarks, Monira Sharmin discussed various aspects of journalism and encouraged students to uphold ethical practices and pursue excellence in the field.

The event concluded with a closing speech from the chair.
