Five people were shot and ten others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers' over the possession of newly emerged land in the Padma River at Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna district.
The incident occurred around 10:30 AM on Friday at Char of Lakshmikunda Degree College in Lakshmikunda union in the upazila.
The five gunshot wounds individuals were identified as Pillu, 25, Chubail, 24, Asif, 20, Alam, 27, and Badsha, 21.
The identities of ten other injured are yet to be known.
According to locals, Rikat Ali Sheikh, along with his family members and supporters, went to inspect the land in char area that had been leased from the government.
A group of 20-25 people, led by Mukul Member, Tarikul Member and Shafi Mir, allegedly attacked them with locally made sharp weapons.
Five people were shot, and at least ten others were injured in the attack. All the injured reportedly admitted to Pabna General Hospital for treatment.
Confirming the matter, Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar Sarkar said that police have been deployed to the scene after receiving the news.
No written complaint has been filed yet, the ASP added, adding that legal action will be taken after proper investigation.
