Two elderly men were killed in separate road accidents in Laxmipur on Thursday evening.
The dead Yusuf, 70, was a resident of Tumchar village under Tumchar union in Sadar upazila, and Harunur Rashid, 55, a grocery shop owner, was a resident of Uttar Denayetpur area under Raipur Municipality.
Yusuf died after being hit by a bus belonging to 'Jonaki Paribahan' in Shamsherabad area of the municipal town along the Laxmipur-Ramgati road. Meanwhile, Harunur Rashid died following a motorcycle accident in front of the Raipur municipal office on the Laxmipur-Chandpur road.
According to police and locals, the recklessly driven Jonaki Paribahan bus hit an auto-rickshaw on the Laxmipur-Ramgati road, killing passenger Yusuf on the spot.
In a separate accident, Harunur Rashid was injured after being hit by a motorcycle near Raipur Municipality. He was being taken to Dhaka for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Laxmipur Sadar Police Station, Abdul Mannaaf, confirmed the news.
