Amid countrywide uproar, Cumilla office of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the Local Government Division (LGD) on Thursday cancelled the contractor licence of Ishrat  Enterprise belonging to Local Government and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan's father Billal Hossain.

Following the directive of the Adviser, the licence was revoked on Thursday, according to the LGED office of Cumilla and LGD officials.

After removing his Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) Moazzem Hossain from the office on charges of earning illegal money, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan on Thursday asked the authority to cancel the licence issued to his father Billal Hossain, a headmaster of a school in Cumilla's Muradpur.

Same time, the Adviser sought apology from the mass people for his father's recent activities and taking a licence from the authority which is in the jurisdiction of the Adviser.

On Thursday, the LGED Cumilla district office issued official cancellation order signed by its Executive Engineer Mohammad Abdul Matin.

Cancelled licence belonged to one M/s Israt Enterprise owned by Billal Hossain from Akubpur village in Muradnagar, which was registered under LGED's limited tendering method.

According to official documentation, licence was cancelled based on owner's personal application, with original licence remaining in LGED's possession.

Hours after cancellation on Thursday, Adviser Asif Mahmud addressed the situation through Facebook post, offering sincere apology for his father's mistake.

"After confirming matter with journalist who inquired about the licence last night, the issue became public. As discussions emerged, I felt obliged to provide explanation," wrote Asif in his page.

He clarified that his father works as headmaster at Akubpur Yakub Ali Bhuiyan Public High School, revealing local contractor had used father's identity for obtaining the licence.

While acknowledging that the licence was legally obtained, Mahmud recognised clear 'conflict of interest' with his current advisory role.

"My father has likely failed to recognise this conflict of interest, for which I apologise on his behalf," Mahmud stated.

He emphasised no government project applications had been submitted using the contested licence, attempting to minimise implications of irregularity.
