An SSC candidate died in a road accident at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar discrict on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM at Purba Singur area of Baramchal union in the upazila.
The deceased was Jahidul Islam, 17, son of Ruhul Amin, a resident of Paschim Singur village at the area. Also an SSC examinee from Singur High School.
According family sources, Jahid left home on his motorcycle to drop his younger sister off at the local school.
While returning home, he was critically injured in a head-on collision with a speedy mini pickup truck in front of LPG gas pump at East Singur area.
Later, locals rescued and took him to a local hospital, where on-duty doctors referred him to Sylhet.
Jahid succumbed to his injuries at Ibn Sina Hospital in Sylhet around 3 PM while undergoing treatment.
Confirming the matter, Kulaura Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) M Golam Afsar said that the body of the deceased handed over to his family after an autopsy.
Legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed by the family, the OC added.
