Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) arrested two individuals in connection with an incident of indecent behavior towards women on a road adjacent to Circuit House area in Rajshahi on Thursday morning.
The arrested individuals are Zubaer Hossain Rakib, 19, a resident of Laxmipur Bhatapara under Rajpara Police Station, and Md Sabuj, 20, a resident of Mahishabathan Uttarpara under Kashiadanga Police Station.
The incident came to light after a video went viral on social media on Wednesday.
The video showed several young men making obscene gestures towards women in the C&D intersection area of the city.
Following the spread of video, RMP launched an operation to identify and arrest the accused youths.
On Wednesday morning, the RMP posted pictures of four youths on their Facebook page, seeking public assistance in identifying them.
Subsequently, two of them were apprehended on Thursday morning.
Confirming the matter, RMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sabina Yasmin said that the photographs of the accused were released not only for arrest but also to build social resistance.
Operation to nab others involved will continue, the ADC added.
