A Chattogram court sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment in drug case filed with Karnaphuli Police Station in Chattogram.
Chittagong Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Begum Sirajam Munira handed down the verdict on Thursday.
The convicts are Syed Nur, 32, son of Mir Ahmed of Ukhia police station in Cox's Bazar district and Imran Sadeq, 29, son of Abdul Malek of the same area.
The court also fined Syed Nur Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer six months more imprisonment and Imran was fined Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer three months more imprisonment.
According to the case statement, on May 25, 2021, RAB-7 arrested truck driver Syed Nur and his associate Imran Sadek along with 29,500 pieces of Yaba pills at Shikalbaha Y Junction on Cox's Bazar-Chattogram Highway under Karnaphuli Police Station.
Later, BGB Nayeb Subedar Ahmed Ullah, who was posted at RAB-7 Hathazari camp, filed a case with Karnaphuli Police Station in this connection.
