Injury crisis hits Real Madrid before Copa del Rey final

Real Madrid have been dealt a major blow just days before their highly anticipated Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, as key players David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga are set to miss the clash due to injuries.

With Barcelona already leading the La Liga title race and dominating recent El Clásico encounters, this latest setback comes at the worst possible time for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Real Madrid's hopes of clinching silverware in the Copa del Rey have taken a serious hit after coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that two vital squad members; David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga, are injured and will likely miss the final against Barcelona, scheduled for the early hours of Sunday (27 April at 2:00 AM).

Coming off a narrow 1-0 victory against Getafe, Real not only struggled on the pitch but also suffered a double injury scare. Austrian defender Alaba, who started the match, was substituted at halftime due to a muscle strain in his left leg. He was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga, who, ironically, also ended up injured before the final whistle.

Camavinga, originally a midfielder but recently deployed in defense due to Real’s ongoing injury crisis, suffered a groin injury in the 85th minute following a challenge from Getafe’s Luis Milla. With no substitutions left, Real had to finish the match with 10 men.

Speaking to the media post-match, Ancelotti shared his concern, “We’ll assess Camavinga’s injury tomorrow, but it looks like both he and Alaba are suffering from muscular issues. It will be very difficult for them to recover in time for Saturday.”

The news comes as a significant blow for Los Blancos, who have already lost out to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup this season and trail them by four points in the La Liga standings. With the Copa del Rey being a key opportunity for silverware, missing two defensive stalwarts could severely dent their chances in another high-stakes El Clásico.
