Superintendent of Police (SP) of Police Academy at Sardah in Rajshahi, Md. Tanvir Salehin Emon, has been temporarily suspended.
He previously served as a Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The information came to light from a notification issued by Public Security Division of Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.
According to a directive signed by Senior Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs, Nasim-ul Gani, issued under authority of the President on Wednesday, it was stated that SP of Bangladesh Police Academy at Sardah and former DMP DC Tanvir was accused in a case filed under murder and explosives laws with New Market Police Station in Dhaka on August 21 last year. He was arrested in this case on February 12 this year.
The notification further states that Tanvir is currently in jail. According to the provisions of the Government Service Act, 2018, he has been temporarily suspended from government service effective from February 12.
During his suspension, he will remain attached to office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rajshahi Range.
He will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per the rules. This order has been issued in public interest, reads the notification.
