The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted mainly dry weather with partly cloudy skies across most parts of the country for the next 24 hours starting from 9 AM today (Thursday).
However, light rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds may occur at one or two places in Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions during this period, the forecast added.
A mild to moderate heat wave is currently sweeping across Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, as well as the districts of Manikganj, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Dinajpur, and Nilphamari. The heat wave is expected to persist.
The highest temperature in the country today was recorded at 39.8 degrees Celsius in Jashore, while the lowest was 21.2 degrees Celsius in Dimla, Rangpur division.
Sylhet recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, with 50 millimeters measured as of 9 AM.
In Dhaka, the sun is set to set at 6:24 PM today and will rise at 5:29 AM tomorrow.
