Truck crashes into house in Tangail; sleeping woman killed

A woman was killed in her sleep after a stone-laden truck lost control and overturned onto a house at Bhuapur upazila in Tangail early Thursday.

The accident occurred around 5:30 AM at Tepibari Mor on the Bhuapur-Tarakandi regional highway.

The victim was identified as Romesha Begum, 55, of that area.

According to locals, Romesha had returned to bed after offering the Fajr prayer, while her husband had gone to a nearby mosque. Suddenly, a Jamalpur-bound truck carrying stones lost control and overturned onto their home, killing her on the spot.

Local residents detained the truck driver and immediately informed police and fire service.

Sub-Inspector Ananta Das of Bhuapur Police Station confirmed the news, saying the truck overturned after the driver lost control, leading to the fatal crash. The truck and its driver have been taken into custody.
